Privacy policy

Outgym analyses your training through the camera. That is about as personal as data gets, so the app was built to keep it on your phone. This page says exactly what stays there and what does not.

The short version

  • Your video, your body tracking, your height and weight, and your results stay on your iPhone. We never receive them.
  • There is no account. We do not know your name or your email address unless you write to us.
  • Two things leave the phone: anonymous usage statistics (Google Analytics) and, if you buy a subscription, your purchase status (Apple and RevenueCat).
  • No advertising, no selling of data, no tracking across other companies' apps and websites.

Who we are

Outgym is published by [LEGAL NAME OF THE PUBLISHER, COUNTRY] ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the limited data described under "What leaves your iPhone". You can reach us at [CONTACT EMAIL].

What stays on your iPhone

All analysis happens on the device, using Apple's on-device frameworks. None of the following is sent to us or to anyone else by the app:

DataWhat it is forWhere it lives
Camera picture and recordings of your setsCounting and judging reps; making your analysis videoOn your iPhone. Recordings and analysis videos are deleted after the period you choose in the app (7, 30 or 90 days) unless you keep the set.
Body tracking (the positions of your joints in each frame)Measuring depth, range, tempo and speed; re-analysing a set laterOn your iPhone, with the saved set.
Height and weightTurning the picture into centimetres; estimating work and energyOn your iPhone, in the app's settings.
Results, scores and the coach's notesYour journal and trendsOn your iPhone. The notes are written on the device, by Apple's on-device model where available.
Videos you pick from your library to analyseThe same analysis as a live setOn your iPhone. The app only sees the videos you pick.

Because this data never reaches us, we cannot see it, restore it or hand it to anyone. If you delete the app, it is gone. If you use Apple's device backups, iOS may include the app's data in them under your Apple Account; recordings and analysis videos are excluded.

Outgym does not read from or write to Apple Health.

What leaves your iPhone

Usage statistics (Google Analytics)

To learn which features are used and where the app fails, the app sends anonymous events to Google Analytics for Firebase, a service of Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited. An event is a fact about the app, not about your body: for example "a set of squats was finished", "an analysis video was shared", or "the setup check failed on distance".

  • Sent: event names and their basic properties (exercise type, whether a set was filmed, counts such as the number of reps), a random identifier for this installation of the app, your device model, iOS version, app version, language, and your approximate region derived from your IP address. Google does not store the IP address.
  • Never sent: video, pictures, body tracking, height, weight, scores tied to you, or anything you type.
  • We do not use the advertising identifier, we do not enable advertising features, and we do not combine this data with data from other companies' apps or websites.
  • You can turn usage statistics off at any time in the app under You › Privacy. Google's privacy policy describes how Google handles the data.

Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)

If you buy a subscription or another in-app purchase, the payment is handled by Apple. We never see your card or your Apple Account details. To know what you have bought and unlock it on your devices, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc.

  • Sent to RevenueCat: a random app user identifier, the products you bought, the purchase and renewal dates and status, Apple's transaction receipts, your App Store country, your device model, iOS and app version. Your IP address is processed to deliver the service.
  • RevenueCat acts as our processor. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
  • If you never make a purchase, RevenueCat still receives the random identifier and device basics so the app can check whether anything has been bought.

When you write to us

If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you send. We use it to answer you and keep it only as long as the conversation needs.

Permissions

  • Camera: to watch your set. The picture is analysed on the device and is not transmitted.
  • Photos (add only): to save an analysis video when you ask. The app cannot read your library; when you analyse an existing video, you pick it in Apple's picker and the app sees only that file.
  • Siri and Shortcuts: optional, to start a set by voice. Handled by iOS.

When you share

An analysis video leaves your phone only when you share or save it. Where you post it is between you and that service. If other people are visible in your recording, ask them before you share it.

Why we may use it

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: performing our contract with you (keeping track of what you bought); our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used and keeping it working (usage statistics, which you can switch off); your consent where the law asks for it; and legal obligations such as tax records for purchases.

How long it is kept

  • Data on your iPhone: until you delete the set, the recording expires, or you delete the app.
  • Usage statistics: up to 14 months in Google Analytics, after which they are deleted or aggregated.
  • Purchase records: for as long as you use the app and then as long as accounting and tax law requires.
  • Emails: as long as the conversation needs, normally no longer than two years.

Where it is processed

Google and RevenueCat process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, it is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Your rights and choices

  • Turn off usage statistics in the app, under You › Privacy.
  • Delete any set, recording or video in the app, or everything by deleting the app.
  • Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, to receive a copy of it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to us at [CONTACT EMAIL]. Because there is no account, include the app identifier shown under You › Privacy so we can find the records that are yours.
  • We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Children

Outgym is not directed at children under 13, or under the age at which your country requires a parent's consent, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used the app, write to us and we will delete what we hold.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page) for a short period to keep the site secure. If we ever add analytics here, this page will say so first, and we will ask before anything is stored on your device.

Changes

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches you, and tell you in the app when the change is significant.
